Stellar Dawn has been put on hold. To quote Mod MMG:

I wanted to personally to let you know that we have taken the decision to pause the development of Stellar Dawn for the time being.

This very difficult decision was driven by the massive year we have ahead of us. We feel we need to focus our resources to ensure we stay true to our values of delivering only the highest quality game experiences.

I know this news will come as a disappointment to many but I want to stress that this is not a decision we have taken lightly. The Stellar Dawn team has achieved a great deal developing the game over recent years and should rightly be proud of their achievements; however, we believe that this temporary move is in the best interest of the studio as a whole.

I know that many of you have been following the games development loyally over recent years and, on behalf of the development team and Jagex Game Studios, I wish to thank each one of you for the support you have shown.

Rest assured that we will review the status of the Stellar Dawn project in the future so long as an appetite for the game remains. I hope Jagex can rely on your ongoing support.

In one form or another Stellar Dawn Central will continue. To quote Laura (PoultryChamp):

Stellar Dawn Central is in the works to refocus our community [and we have been since late last year.] This news didn’t take us by surprise, as I’ve figured this has been the case since Jagex stopped posting on our forums at the beginning of the year. I’m unsure what Jagex plans to do with our Platinum Support status – I’ll have to contact them about it. I also have some unfinished business I’ll need to talk to the fansite support about.

We won’t be closing. As long as you guys remain here as a community, we’re still going to be strong. You can expect an announcement from me tonight. I’m at work right now, so I can’t get something going until tonight anyway

Merry Christmas from Stellar Dawn Central! As a little Christmas present I’ve worked with Pliigi to bring you the Jagex Financial Report 2010-11 which is based on Jagex’s company accounts with some added graphs and charts.

Rob S, Vice President of Stellar Dawn, was quoted in a Newzoo press release as stating the following:

“Sci-Fi games have been disproportionally under-represented historically in the MMO sector but this research reaffirms our confidence that the appetite for new and compelling Sci-Fi games is not only significant, but growing. To provide for this audience we have two F2P Sci-Fi MMO’s in development, Transformers Universe and Stellar Dawn, so the future is looking much brighter for Sci-Fi fans.”

According to a Jagex press release from the 9th of September 2011: “We have a hugely exciting twelve months ahead with the release of 8Realms, Transformers Universe TM and Stellar Dawn and very soon the noise from the Jagex corner will have people sitting up and listening”. Is this an announcement that SD will be out by September 2012, or just that they will be working on the release over the next 12 months?
