I wanted to personally to let you know that we have taken the decision to pause the development of Stellar Dawn for the time being.

This very difficult decision was driven by the massive year we have ahead of us. We feel we need to focus our resources to ensure we stay true to our values of delivering only the highest quality game experiences.

I know this news will come as a disappointment to many but I want to stress that this is not a decision we have taken lightly. The Stellar Dawn team has achieved a great deal developing the game over recent years and should rightly be proud of their achievements; however, we believe that this temporary move is in the best interest of the studio as a whole.

I know that many of you have been following the games development loyally over recent years and, on behalf of the development team and Jagex Game Studios, I wish to thank each one of you for the support you have shown.

Rest assured that we will review the status of the Stellar Dawn project in the future so long as an appetite for the game remains. I hope Jagex can rely on your ongoing support.

The last line is especially disturbing. It essentially means we might not see Stellar Dawn ever.

I mean seriously what appetite? How can anyone have an appetite for such a game which has been canned TWICE and we have next to nothing to get excited about? No pics, no video...do they really expect us to be excited about it?

I just noticed they updated their homepage to say "STELLAR DAWN IS THE FUTURE OF SCI-FI MMORPG".

Getting a bit ahead of themselves, aren't they?

:OOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! I almost died when I first saw the homepage, coz I thought there was gonna be a BETA announcement or something following the update, then once I went to the forums & saw the update on the game I was pissed :@ It's so sad how TU can be the biggest focus when Stellar Dawn has been anticipated for years from their VERY loyal fanbase who have come on these forums every single day almost and really waited a long long time for this game so Jagex can kick us in the guts like this!!!

The least they could of done was give us some preview on the game (screenshots or gameplay vid) to show us there actually is a game worth waiting for ! Now what we're gonna wait another 5 years while Jagex releases more "higher paying" & more "important" promotional video games!

BIG BIG disappointment Jagex, if someone from Jagex sees this I think they should look at it from our perspective, How would one of them feel if they were hoping and hoping for a game to come out for YEARS and the company decides to delay it even more. None of us even gets any taste of what the game will be like at least for another 1-2 years if we're very lucky. What I see is no improved and better Jagex, what you've done to us over and over is disgusting and you should really think about what you've done to us during these years of waiting for a game we don't even know exists!!!!!!!!

Well then, my suspicions have been confirmed. Rest assured guys, we've got something in the pipeline for this community and we (the staff) would hope that you guys stay to be a part of it. We will (hopefully soon, today/tomorrow) have another discussion and let you know of our future plans.

This doesn't spell the end of our community, far from it. This is, in my opinion, only a green light to go ahead with something even bigger and more important. Stay tuned.

I just wish they'd give us something good for once all they've given us since 2011 is bad news :/ 2010 was great coz we were excited for this awesome game and it was just starting to get hyped but now I feel like everything is slowly dying again (just like Mechscape) .

PLUS what's even worse is they deleted all their social networking accounts except for Twitter... That really shows their hope of releasing the game :/

Just found this! Apparently it was due to a mass of people from the Stellar Dawn team losing their jobs....

12 jobs lost as studio reorganises to focus on RuneScape and Transformers Universe MMOs
Jagex has today put on hold development of its sci-fi MMO Stellar Dawn.

With immediate effect, development will cease, so as to allow the studio to focus more energy on the up and coming Transformers Universe MMO, and on its long standing core IP RuneScape.
While a dozen staff have lost their jobs, Jagex has managed to relocate the majority of the Stellar Dawn team.

“This year is set to be our biggest year to date and it’s vital that we ensure that we’re in the best possible position to deliver on our ambitious plans," said Jagex CEO Mark Gerhard. "Jagex has always been committed to developing the highest quality games and services. This is not a decision we have taken lightly; the Stellar Dawn team has achieved a great deal developing the game and should rightly be proud of their achievements so far.”

“Having paused all Stellar Dawn development, we have been able to reallocate all but 12 members of the team to our other development studios." added Gerhard. "It is very sad to lose any members of the team. We will naturally continue to support and help them during this difficult time and wish them every success in the future. The remaining team members have now all moved into their new roles.

"I believe that with their added expertise fortifying the other development teams, and a sharp focus on just a handful of opportunities this year, Jagex is in the strongest possible position ever to achieve our plans for the year ahead and to ensure that 2012 will be Jagex’s most successful year to date.”

lol it wont work.... you need to think about it, the game has taking how long? been paused /canceled redone how many times... its prob crap. if they were going to continue on it in the next few years they wouldnt have fired some of the people working on it and relocated the rest.

in the mean time whos going to be playing mass effect 3
